that trisaratops is one snotty chick

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I am SNOTTY.

That is, when I am riding a bike.

Why is that? Does anyone else have an extreme snotting issue on the bike?

(hold onto your hats, folks, this is one post you can file under "TOO MUCH INFORMATION")

I mean, I know I have allergies, and I am on 2 kinds of medicine, so I have them under control. But get me on the bike outside and I start snotting like nobody's business. I have gotten really good at snot rockets. But this, alas, is rather disgusting, and definitely not very lady-like. Although, I guess most sports I excel at are not really lady-like and dainty, but isn't this a bit much?

Does anyone have any suggestions? Am I the only really snotty one out there?

*sigh*

Had a wonderful little trainer ride (still freaking raining--supposed to until SUNDAY! WTF?!) and then a good lifting session. I really really want to get out tomorrow and I'm hoping the forecasted thunderstorms hold off until evening. I'm going to bring my bike to school and then ride after I help a student after school. That way I can get in the park, instead of on the busy road my MOM HATES ME RIDING ON (see Mom? I do listen)

I still get honked at in the park, but at least I can say, "I'm IN A PARK!!!" and not "I'm on a major route that commutes home from Cleveland during rush hour!!"

One more thing, and this is non-bodily-fluid-related: I just took a look at my little statcounter and lo and behold, I'm about to hit 10,000 visitors! This is pretty fun--who knew when I started rambling back in November that people would actually come to see my ramblings?

(or, perhaps they are not here to see my ramblings but rather to laugh at my ridiculous antics--not laughing with me, but AT me)

Anyways...thought I could celebrate the little mini-milestone like the Kahuna celebrated his 100,000th visitor. Instead of doing a century ride like he did, I thought I could do something random and rather stupid. I'm open to suggestions. Ride down Route 6 in an Elvis costume? Swim in Lake Erie with some water wings?

I'll let you decide. What stupid thing should I do to celebrate my blogland friends? I promise I will post pictures. No wimping out on you here. :)

Snot rockets are your friend. It's permitted on the bike.

I'd love to learn how to pee on the bike. It just doesn't work, though. :-( But it WOULD save me time.

My nose runs on bike rides too! Don't worry you are not alone!

Hmmm what can you do? Maybe we could do a hash run to celebrate! Run from bar to bar trying a new drink at each bar! With pics of course!

I was riding my bike over the weekend and I though I had boggers in my nose, but its snot! you are supposed to laugh now.

Of course I get snotty on the bike. Who doesn't? I ride for 5 hours blowing snot rockets every 15 minutes it seems. It would be a great way to get a person who is drafting off your tail.

Now Nancy has to talk about peeing on the bike. I was trying to decide when to approach that subject. Be ready on Thursday for that topic.

And here, all this time, I had this picture of a dainty, retiring, genteel trisaratops. All my illusions are shattered in the blogosphere.

Is there a prize for the 10000th visitor?

Did someone say hash run? Forget the run and just go for a pub crawl. How about Madison Avenue?

Have you consider stuffing two tissue paper up your nose when you ride? :)...

I don't think that will help.but it will be quite hilariosu :D..

I get runny nose like there is no tomorrow. THat's what my gloves are for. I dont' bother snotting.

Ah, that's easy. When you pass 10,000, post a snot hurling video clip!

Nobody is laughing AT you... most, I think, are in awe!

In answer to the question in your comment on my post, I am (obviously) not British. I'm glad the impersonation on the GYGO voice over got some laughs.

I grew up in the Buckeye-est part of the Buckeye state, a suburb of Columbus adjacent to the campus of THE Ohio State University where my dad was on faculty.

snot, spit, you name it, I got it. You're not alone...

10,000 visitor... hmmm... how about... a contest... solicit suggestions for a top 10 list... top 10 reasons why it's a good idea to learn the correct technique for an effective snot rocket??? Winner get's a crown - king or queen of the snot rocket?

Or a pub crawl on video... ;)

Snotty on the bike is OK. Your speed takes care of the low velocity ones. You have to be more careful on the run, or you could end up wearing them. Thats just what I've heard...

To celebrate, why don't you run the first race you ever entered; after a hash run warm up!

I run and ny nose runs! I take medicine for asthma and allergies and stopped caring what others think when I am dripping everywhere.

Oh can't wait to see new pics. You do take some great and funny ones.

Tri-snotty-tops! Heh.

To celebrate the 10K visitors you can wear your wet suit, googles, helmet, race bib, and running shoes while biking and blowing a whistle in downtown Cleveland!

Janet Edwards said...

Not only do I feel snotty on my bike, but also in the pool. Is it just me?

At least with the warm up, the snot has slowed a little.

Hmmm...Elvis on 6 would be funny...if there is a pub crawl I am in...the worm done in a very public way! Either way, I am looking forward to whatever this is!

I hate when motorists honk at bicyclists! That's so rude!

Nothing like the farmer's blow to clear things out. Personally I spit more then anything else. Yeah hot stuff…

I'm glad that there are others in blog land willing to do stupid stuff and post the evidence. Maybe you should do a run in one of those inflatable costumes. (ballerina, fat bastard, ostridge)

Snot Rockets! So that's what that's called..LOL. (I learn something new every day) I thought that I was probably the ONLY female around that did this on the bike! I am terribly snotty on the bike.

I like Papa Louie's idea for your 10,000 visitor celebration.

Just keep blowing. Although I wonder what the impact of blowing so much snot out is on hydration? Just be courteous when launching. It's no fun being on the receiving end of those boogers.

I read this one a while back. I get them all the time. Not much you can do and its not the nicest looking thing but its got to be done.. I'll use my maners when I'm at the dinner table..

Snot Rockets are easy. When you and blow out single boogers then and only then will you be ready.

The force is strong with this one...
