(almost 40 years...I tried to retire and can't. working with preschoolers now and loving it.) I too had so many visions of terrified children after the incident. Those at my school...my daughter at that age (she is now 26). Once a mom, always a mom and ditto for being an educator. Merry Christmas!
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19402707.post-61369644346748516302012-12-19T20:27:15.087-05:002012-12-19T20:27:15.087-05:00Thanks for posting this. I'm a long-time reader - an English teacher for 12 years and mom of two boys AND I was a new triathlete in 2006 :) - and you've really expressed what I feel about this event.

Of course it's our job to protect OUR KIDS. It broke my heart to have to tell my middle schoolers that I had a plan - I would tape that poster over the door and we'd go THERE and... and it broke my heart again to have to explain this event to my 8 year-old.

Peace and happiness to you this holiday!

KChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14077234813113524553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19402707.post-71117625205914108152012-12-19T17:43:06.404-05:002012-12-19T17:43:06.404-05:00I've been waiting for your thoughts on all of ...I've been waiting for your thoughts on all of this, as you always are so articulate when you write about your 'kids.' Thank you for TEACHING and GUIDING your students. I hope my children have teachers like you. I'm ...Thanks for taking the time to post this. I'm a math teacher, a mom to young kids, and what you said really expressed how I feel. Because I'm a math teacher, I don't express my feelings well at all. And I have been frustrated by much of what has been written. May you have a Merry Christmas. And by the way, my ah-ha moment was when I was told not every assignment had to be graded the next day. Back in 1996.J. L.https://www.blogger.com/profile/05111376512687610496noreply@blogger.com
