Mine still haven't made as much progress as I'd like. Give it time. It'll get there. :)

I'm so glad that you're feeling better and are able to train now!Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06590295954365525648noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19402707.post-1139581773149853842006-02-10T09:29:00.000-05:002006-02-10T09:29:00.000-05:00well, i'll miss ya at the chilli bowl, but you're ...well, i'll miss ya at the chilli bowl, but you're making the right decision...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19402707.post-1139575037694941932006-02-10T07:37:00.000-05:002006-02-10T07:37:00.000-05:00TriSaraTops. To think I have to pound 24.2 miles after 120 miles of biking..hmm...not thinking about it :)

Keep that HR low...I start to play a game with myself. How low I can keep my HR without stopping. Speed isn't a factor no more. Yup, there is a lot of ppl out there who go much faster than me and a part of me want to just go all out. But this is IM..this ain't a sprint.

Keep it slow and keep it steady. Build that aerobic base. It will come back and reward you on race day.Cliffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03227378544813320248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19402707.post-1139569608890205792006-02-10T06:06:00.000-05:002006-02-10T06:06:00.000-05:00Are you sure your treadmill's HR readings are accu...Are you sure your treadmill's HR readings are accurate? I own an upper endish treadmill which works great, however, I am constantly suspicious with respect to the accuracy of some of the electronic features.

Perahps I'm the last person that should give the following advice but it's what people have been telling me all week (including my therapist)... stop beating on yourself girl!

Sounds trite but when I read your stuff, it sounds like your glass is more than half-full... no?Scotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04740378196839345108noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19402707.post-1139554331580009522006-02-10T01:52:00.000-05:002006-02-10T01:52:00.000-05:00I loved reading this post. The hr zones were right but I wasn't spent at the end like I was expecting. then I thought about it. I don't need speed right now I need endurance. Small bites of speed, I'm training for a marathon and IM. Not a 5k or 10k.

I think the Beastie Boys have something there......Erichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15903883660163304283noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19402707.post-1139539695514263692006-02-09T21:48:00.000-05:002006-02-09T21:48:00.000-05:00Ditto what Joseph said, especially the last paragr...Ditto what Joseph said, especially the last paragraph.

I had the same thing happen to me earlier with some high heart rates on a run after a layoff. I ignored my monitor the next few times out.

I have never really gotten into the heart rate training. I think it is good information, but knowing how you feel is more important than obsessing over a range of numbers.qcmierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01993355080112850236noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19402707.post-1139535178847298992006-02-09T20:32:00.000-05:002006-02-09T20:32:00.000-05:00TriSara, chill out ;-) You're Type-A, like the re...TriSara, chill out ;-) You're Type-A, like the rest of us, and it's no big deal. You've clearly got a tremendous amount of talent, determination, will, and tenacity... All of which will help elevate you to whatever goals you set for yourself. Keep up the hard work, but keep it fun, and always "know thyself".

Now, with that being said, I'll add: HR monitoring can really mess with your head if you let it. And you're letting it! You just came off a down-period in training and an immuno-supressed physical state; the last thing you should be doing is paying attention to your HR. Just ease yourself back into training by feel, and you'll be back, stronger than ever, in no time!

Best of luck, and keep it easy!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
